Week Seven

Wow I've been bad, well sort of... The last few weeks have been a bit hectic with work thus the lack of posting. This week was Thanksgiving we had both our family's over for the day, then the Black Friday shopping. Things have finally settled out a bit.

Since I haven't posted any goals posts in fourish weeks I have done a bunch of stuff. I finished writing another post and have two more in the works. I've also started a new project at work investigating new technologies, applications, tools and ideas to enhance productivity, collaboration, management and development. Yes that sounds like a bunch of buzzword throw up and it essentially is but I get to play with all kinds of new stuff and I get paid for it.

Back to our regularly scheduled program:
  • Read More of Modular Java
  • Start investigating build tools
  • Keep working on IT project
  • Start playing with writing Android applications
Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and have a good week.

Week Three

Neglected to push publish on this one.

Debrief:
  • Reading - Chapter 1 and 2
  • Alarm Clock - Not much
  • Post an article - Check
Finally got that article posted as well as some of the book reading. The alarm did not get any where well I created the project for it, however it will be taking a back seat to a project a coworker and I decided to start working on.

Goals:
  • Reading - Chapter 3 and 4
  • Install Windows 7 on my main machine
  • Work on super secret IT project

Week Two

FAIL!!! EPIC FAIL!!!

Well let's see what we have accomplished here...
  • Reading - Well I read the preface I guess that counts, no not really
  • Alarm Clock - Zip Zero Nada
  • Post an article - Well everyone can see how that went
The blog post is the only real place I made any progress. I forgot this weekend we were heading out for a camping trip so I was not able to put together some of the references I wanted. I however was able to write up the post on my BlackBerry so now I have to finish those references and that goal will be completed. That also put off the debrief and the week 2 goals.

We're going to roll forward with Week one's goals into week two and see how things go.

Week One

This article was originally posted on http://blog.caffeinated-code.com/2009/10/now-to-caffeinated-code.html. It has been restructured to fit the goals blog.

I have learned that writing down a goal really does make you more likely to accomplish it so I am going to lay down a foundation to make things happen.

As a kickoff let's talk about the Caffeinated Goals. I want to make a public record of what I hope to accomplish each week. I am blatancy stealing this idea from my close friend and fellow blogger Joshua McKinnon. What good is a goals list without the finger pointing when it fails or the kudos when it succeeds? So with that will be which goals I accomplished, why was I successful, what did I lean, how could I have done better, where did I fall short.

In that vein how have I done so far? Put bluntly - TERRIBLY! To be a little more fair that is only part of the story, I have begun several postings some of which are close to completion and others are just topics and some body.

Well with all that here's the first goal listing:
Let's see how week one goes.
